Photoshop 8.0 marked the beginning of Adobe’s Creative Suite (CS) era. This version was rebranded from version numbers to “CS” (Creative Suite) to unify Adobe’s suite of tools like Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere.

Photoshop CS introduced Layer Comps, which allowed users to save multiple layout variations within the same document — a powerful feature for designers and web developers. Match Color improved color consistency between images. Smart Guides helped with precise object alignment, making layout work much more efficient.

Other improvements included 16-bit image support for more advanced color editing, better RAW image support via the Camera Raw plug-in, and tighter integration with other Adobe tools.

Photoshop CS (8.0) was more professional-oriented than 7.0 and marked the beginning of Adobe’s focus on integration and workflow efficiency.
